M-VAC DNA Collection

We have a combined 13 years of experience using the M-Vac on a multitude of  sample types. Some examples of items of evidence that we’ve had success are; rocks, clothing, jewelry, ligatures and bedding. This device is a tool that works especially well with difficult items of evidence or where minimal DNA is expected.

The FBI conducted a comparison study which compared the M-Vac to traditional swabbing on a variety of surfaces. The wet-vacuum method yielded more total nuclear DNA than wet-swabbing on 18 porous substrates, recovering on average 12 times more DNA.
